After 25 Years of Using Financial Models to Evaluate Deals, Sawtooth Farms Owner Ronald Achs Makes His Tools Available to Other Farmers.

Cash-Flow-Model.com formally launches its Farming financial model, bringing decades of operating and due diligence experience to farmers planning their operations, investments, and funding.

Chicago, IL — October 6, 2026 — Ronald Achs knows that buying a farm and paying for its operation are two different things. Ron is a longtime commodity trader, oil and gas investor, and a 5,300+ acre farm and ranch owner who began developing financial models approximately 25 years ago to help objectively answer a practical question: What happens to my money if I buy this, or should I pass on the offer? If I acquire the farm, how can I make it work?

His financial models served him through acquisitions, start-ups, ongoing operations, and funding discussions from $100K to $100M+. They also helped him recognize when the numbers didn’t support an opportunity before he committed the money. Today, through PRODUITS DE L’ÉQUIPE LLC, Achs is announcing the formal launch of the Farming financial model at Cash-Flow-Model.com, making those tools available to other farmers, ranchers, and people considering an agricultural opportunity.

“Those financial models served me wonderfully, and they saved me countless times,” said Achs, Founder and Chief Executive of PRODUITS DE L’ÉQUIPE LLC. “An opportunity can sound terrific. You can be excited about it. But you still need to sit down and work through what it costs, when the money comes in, and whether you have enough cash to get there — and stay there. That’s where I’ve always started.”

His agricultural experience includes Sawtooth Farms, a 5,312-acre farm and ranch near Declo, Idaho. The financial model he used helped him structure a complex acquisition involving seller financing, hedge fund debt, and “some other gymnastics,” as he describes it. He subsequently grew operating revenue and profitability substantially, and the farm’s appraised value increased by more than 250% within a few years of acquisition. Being able to organize the numbers and explain his plan to bankers, investors, and lenders proved invaluable. That experience helped shape the Farming model now available through Cash-Flow-Model.com.

Later, Achs learned to code while building Oil-Royalties.com, Working-Interest.com, and the PRODUITS websites. The due diligence work and technology behind those platforms became the genesis of Cash-Flow-Model.com — and his unique experience as a farm and ranch owner provided the way to make his financial modeling tools available to others.

“I know math. Learning to code came later,” Achs said. “I’ve seen dozens of deals, many presented without organized financials. I figured other people could benefit from the same tools I’ve used. A farmer may know the land, the crops, and the equipment exceptionally well. Putting the financial picture together can help explain the opportunity to someone else — especially to bankers, lenders, and investors. You may even understand it better yourself.”

The Farming model helps users organize uneven revenue receipts, changing operating costs, land and equipment investments, funding requirements, and general and industry assumptions to produce an 84-month set of forward-looking projections and fully integrated GAAP-compliant financial statements. The completed schedules can be viewed, downloaded, and printed for review or discussion with bankers, investors, lenders, partners, and advisers.

Through unlimited “what if” capabilities, a farmer can test crop yields and selling prices on the fly, or change livestock revenue assumptions, increase operating expenses, add seasonal employees, contract labor, purchase equipment, or compare financing terms. Then generate the schedules again and see what changed. How much money is needed and when? What is the projected ending bank balance from month to month? What happens if production is lower, costs are higher, or revenue arrives later than expected? How much inventory should I hold and for how long? Can the operation support another equipment purchase or an expansion?

The financial model also gives the farmer something useful throughout the operation: a budget and operating plan, or a benchmark, against which to compare actual results.

“I’ve sat across the table from bankers and investors myself,” Achs continued. “Having a dynamic model that organizes and presents the numbers makes for a much better conversation. I call it my ‘no bullshit rule.’ If someone questions an assumption, you can change it on the spot and look at the result together. My hope is to help other farmers put together an objective plan they can understand, explain, and work from.”

Users supply the assumptions, the financial model performs the calculations, and the decisions remain theirs. Projections show what may happen under those assumptions; they do not guarantee an outcome.
